PSM-4900L Hybrid Satellite Modem
The PSM-4900L is the ultimate L-Band modem. Datum
Systems designed this
latest low cost modem specifically to
build low cost VSAT type small stations. It matches the performance and features
of the PSM-4900, but connects directly to the L-Band input of
a BUC and output of an LNB to
eliminate the normal expensive
transmit and receive converter equipment. The PSM-4900L Satellite Modem is manufactured for System Integrators and is available
with private labeling for volume customers.
This modem uses all of Datum Systems proprietary design
technology implemented with the latest available parts to achieve the best performance and reliability possible at one of
the lowest costs on the market. It is fully compatible
with systems using both the standard or hybrid PSM-4900 units. Fully
programmable options and parameters insure compatibility with virtually all
modems currently manufactured.
The PSM-4900L is a variable data rate programmable satellite modem with
950 to 1750 MHz Transmit and 950 to
1900 MHz Receive L-Band IF. This
digital modem is programmable for either BPSK or QPSK operation and can be used in
a wide variety of system configurations. The standard PSM-4900L includes integral Viterbi Forward Error Correction, programmable data interfaces and built-in 1:1
redundancy capability. It can be outfitted with a variety of options like an IBS
Multiplexer with AUPC and a concatenated
Reed-Solomon FEC codec and the new high performance Turbo Product Codes FEC . External interface converters are available for Ethernet
and G.703 T1 or E1.
The PSM-4900L contains an internal 10 MHz reference for
an LNB and BUC which may be individually enabled or disabled as required. It
uses internal power for standard LNB (13 or 18 Vdc up to 500 mA), and a supplied
external power source which plugs into the unit rear panel for various BUC
requirements. The standard supplied BUC power supply is 24 Vdc at up to 4 A,
options include 12 or 48 Vdc for specific BUCs. The internal ±1 x 10-7
high stability, low phase noise OCXO and Bias-T circuitry insures good BUC
performance.
